if you thought Rocket.net/Cloudways were fast, try using AMD EPYC 9474F CPUs ranked 35th/1227 with a 480% higher multithread rating and DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs.
ScalaHosting makes them look like Bluehost with dedicated resources, no limits, and SPanel requiring ~2x less resources than cPanel (and nearly visually identical). And with FlyingCDN, you’re getting both Cloudflare Enterprise and hosting with fast hardware (CPUs/RAM/storage).
For reference, Rocket.net uses Intel Xeon CPUs from 2013 ranked 433rd with a 480% lower multithread rating and is shared hosting with low bandwidth limits owned by conglomerate hosting.com (no wonder my admin was slow). While Cloudways’ subpar performance is from middleman bloat, half-baked CDN and cache integrations, and outdated Varnish (no wonder I had high CPU usage). Plus the DigitalOcean takeover. Both also cost ~3x more. Makes no sense.
What makes sense is every single benchmark improved including the Hosting Benchmark plugin, PHP Vitals, global TTFB which is now ~50ms (previously ~100ms), and both the wp-admin + frontend load ~2x faster. You can run any test you want or click through my nav menu.
That’s the price I pay for using a host backed by private equity, not independently owned by Chris and Vlad who I’ve probably emailed 200 times and have Zoom meetings with. And I can say this, you’re in a hell of a lot better hands with them than Ben Gabler or Cloudways support.
